Last night saw the opening of the Advance Queensland Innovation and Investment Summit at the Royal International Convention Centre in Bowen Hills.
The evening was opened by the Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, supported by the majority of her cabinet and was attended by a cross section of Entrepreneurs, Venture Capitalists and the best of Queensland’s up and coming technology businesses and innovators
Throughout the evening, five Queensland businesses who have utilised new thinking and technology were given the opportunity to pitch their businesses, with the objective of being voted the most likely to achieve global growth.

The presentations showed the imagination, drive and creativity that is being fostered in Queensland and in a closely fought contest Dose Me, software that allows doctors to dose a patient based on their individual ability to absorb, process and clear a drug, took out the prize.
Another highlight of the evening was the six course degustation menu created by Alistair McLeod, Matt Golinski and the star of the evening Iron Chef Hiroyuki Sakai. The courses were perfectly paired with a selection of Symphony Hills and Ballandean Estate wines that made the evening all the more enjoyable.

The major parts of the event start today with talks over the next two days by Industry leaders such as Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) and Bruce Dell (CEO of Euclideon). All through the event there is an Innovation Showcase to allow us to see the new ideas and creativity that is coming out of Queensland
If you can make it down to the Royal International Convention Centre over the next two days I encourage you to do so and if you can’t the summit is being broadcast live http://advance.qld.gov.au/summit-live-stream.aspx
The conversations I had over dinner last night have opened my eyes to potential new revenue streams and partnerships and I look forward to building on those, while hearing the thoughts and ideas for the future in the forums.
