Setting up your email account in Outlook (Windows) #

To set up your email account with Microsoft Outlook, you have two options:

Option 1 #

Open Outlook → File (drop-down menu) → Account Settings → Account Settings → E-mail → New

Option 2 #

Click on the Windows Start Button → Control Panel → Mail → Show Profiles.
If you cannot find the Mail icon in Control Panel, please try the following:
On the left side of Control Panel, select Classic View. you should see the Mail applet directly in the list of icons.

Click on show profile > double-click on  your profile, then click Email Accounts.

Select your profile name and click New.

Setting up your email account in Outlook (Mac) #

Go to Outlook → Preferences → Accounts. You will be forwarded to fill in your account information:

Email Settings: #

Email address: your email (user@yourdomain.com)
Password: password for your email account
Username: your email (user@yourdomain.com)

Type: IMAP

Incoming mail server: smartermail.myownserver.net
IMAP Port: 993
IMAP Security: SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail server: smartermail.myownserver.net
Outgoing Port: 587
Authentication: Normal password
Security: STARTTLS

Type:  POP3

Incoming mail server: smartermail.myownserver.net
POP3 Port: 995
POP3 Security: SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail server: smartermail.myownserver.net
Outgoing Port: 587
Authentication: Normal password
Security: STARTTLS

In More Settings Go to Outgoing server tab and check the option of ‘My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’
Select ‘Use same settings as my incoming mail server’.

When you are ready to complete the requested info, click Add Account and the configuration will be completed.

Setting up your email account in Mac Mail #

To configure your email account to work on the Mail app on your Mac, open the Mail app, and from the Mail drop-down menu, choose Add Account → Other Mail Account → Continue. Enter your name, email address (user@yourdomain.com), the password for the email account, and click Sign In. Continue with the server settings:

Email address: your email (user@yourdomain.com)
Username: your email (user@yourdomain.com)
Password: password for your email account

Account Type: IMAP

Incoming mail server: smartermail.myownserver.net
IMAP Port: 993
IMAP Security: SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail server: smartermail.myownserver.net
Outgoing Port: 587
Authentication: Normal password
Security: STARTTLS

Click Sign In once you have filled in the information. On the next step, you can choose the apps you want to use with this email account. Select your preferred apps, click Done and you will be able to use your new email account in Mac Mail.
